Turley Legal is hosting Menopause Matters on Thursday 26 November 2026 at 2pm in the Chronicle Press (Coleraine), bringing people together for an informative but relaxed afternoon in support of our charity partner, Derry Well Women.
With expert talks, time for questions and cream tea, the event aims to make perimenopause and menopause easier to understand and talk about. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms yourself, wondering what to expect or looking to support a partner, friend or colleague, you’re very welcome.
Understanding menopause
We’ll hear from Dr Sandra McNeill, a retired consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist who worked at Altnagelvin Area Hospital. Sandra will explain what can change during perimenopause and menopause, including common symptoms, longer-term health considerations, when to seek medical advice and where to find support.
Menopause at work
Our own Marie-Claire Logue, Senior Associate in Turley Legal’s Employment team, will explore menopause from a workplace perspective. Marie-Claire advises on employment law in Northern Ireland and in England and Wales. She’ll discuss the legal protections that may be relevant, how to start a conversation about menopause at work and practical adjustments that can help. She’ll also consider how employers, managers and colleagues can offer support.
There’ll be time for questions and discussion after the talks.
Supporting Derry Well Women
Founded in 1988, Derry Well Women is a not-for-profit health and wellbeing centre run by women for women. It provides counselling, one-to-one clinics, support groups and wellbeing programmes, offering a welcoming and confidential space for women at different stages of life.
Menopause has long been part of the centre’s work. Alongside its work on menopause support, Derry Well Women is working with Queen’s University Belfast to develop an Integrated Menopause Hub in the Western Trust area. The project aims to improve access to menopause care and education, particularly for women facing health inequalities.
